Hidden cameras on the roads
This is a long overdue post, taken off Straits Times on 18/3/13.
Motorists will identify with some of the above areas as areas that are often congested with people stopping by the zig-zag lines to buy food or wait for people , thus reducing the number of lanes available for traffic from 2 or 3 to 1 or 2. For instance, there are always tons of cars illegally parked outside Spize and people will scramble into their cars when there is a tip-off regarding the traffic wardon.
However, all these will change once these “hidden cameras” are installed. Why risk getting fined $70 when all you need to do is find a parking lot a bit further away and pay $0.50? At least there is a published list of areas highlighting where the cameras are installed. Next time you are in the above areas, do watch out for these cameras and think twice before stopping and parking!
